Systems Development Life Cycle: The system development life cycle is a conceptual model which is used in project management and it involves set of steps that designers, programmers and other professional’s needs to follow to develop, maintain and replace information system. SDLC is important as it increases efficiency and accuracy and it helps to reduce the risks of failure in modern information system era regardless of system size and scope. SDLC consist of five important phases i.e. Planning, Analysis, Design, Implementation and Maintenance. Planning Phase: Planning is an important phase in system SDLC and it’s primarily focus is on requirements of project planning work. In this phase, various project planning approaches are identified and defined such as data availability, new data requirements and scope of project, cost and risks involved, to support the new project. Most of the times, it is observed that incomplete planning and analysis are the root cause of a project failure, so in order to overcome this, proper project planning is essential for a successful IT Project.
