1IntroductionIn this paper we will focus on how the Lord used Paul to spread the gospel to the manynations all over the world. Paul, who was once Saul, once sought out the Apostles to kill themand destroy them. He then heard Christ Jesus’ direct voice in his vision “Saul why do youpersecute me,…I am Jesus who you are persecuting…you will carry my name before theGentiles and their kings..” (Acts 9:3-16)1. Over his time serving as an instrument of Godspreading his gospel to the ends of the world, Paul was known to establish churches at thevarious places in where he taught. The Lord bestowed upon him many visions, angels to guideand protect him, fellow disciples to assist in his travels, gentiles to aid him, and the Lord drewcrowds in so that his preaching could be heard; therefore, in those places where he taughtChurches were established.During this paper we will discuss various aspects of those churches that were built. Wewill talk about the history of the church, the leadership of those churches, and key individualswho assisted in getting them started, and the Key teachings including the critical events thatoccurred. We will interact with the Book of Acts as examples are given to hopefully give a betterunderstanding of the Churches. The Churches to be discussed are: Philippi, Thessalonica,Corinth, and Ephesus.Church of Philippi1Unless otherwise noted, all biblical passages referenced employ theNew International Version(Grand Rapids, MI:Zondervan, 1986)
2In short, the Church of Philippi was established by Paul, Timothy, and Silas. “We put outto sea from Troas and sailed a straight course to Samothrace, the next day to Neapolis, and fromthere to Philippi, which is a leading city of that district of Macedonia, a Roman colony. Westayed in this city for some days” (Acts 16:11-12)2. Paul was divinely guided to Philippi.
