Davis Berryhill NSC 170C Macronutrients and Weight Loss A. Many people believe that putting fat in your body is the reason why you obtain fat in your stomach. This article questions that and proposes something new that scientist have discovered about carbohydrate. A man at Harvard medical school came out with a study that found that starch and carbohydrates are actually the sources of belly fat. He proposed that people who eat more fat and less carbohydrates in fact burned more calories that those who ate more starch. Refined carbohydrates send a signal to the body, which causes it to releases insulin where the insulin locks up those actual cells and doe not allow them to be used for energy. This actually causes fatigue and also makes the person to actually become hungry. Lugwig, the man who made the study stated this, "It's a double-whammy for weight gain," Ludwig says. "We've been told for decades that if you don't want fat on your body, don't put fat into your body. It's a very appealing notion, but the problem is it's wrong." The study shows those who ate fat and protein more than those who had carbs were burning a lot fatter. Non-carb eaters lost 12 more pounds than those who
