Hybrid Diet Analysis Fall 15 (1) - Diet Analysis Part 1...

This preview shows page 1 - 2 out of 5 pages.

Diet Analysis Part 1: Dietary Components Record your diet for 3 days using the “24 Hour Food Diaries” found linked within unit 2. Be sure to include all food and beverages, including water. Record two consecutive weekdays (example: Tuesday and Wednesday) and 1 weekend day. Start keeping track of food intake when you wake up and continue until you go to sleep. Be sure to include any alcoholic beverages. You will be entering items from your Food Diary into the USDA MyPlate SuperTracker website. Include as much information as possible. The food database is large….very good for fast food, not so complete for combination plates, ethnic foods etc. Do your best to record accurately. The unit 2 page in d2l has a useful document to help you determine portion sizes. Do not include supplements. Using the information from your 24-Hour Food Diaries, go to the USDA MyPlate Super Tracker website ( ) to analyze your diet. When working on this assignment, do NOT utilize the Physical Activity part of the website. You have been instructed to collect diet data on 3 separate days because one day will not usually accurately represent the overall diet; a variety of days is usually more indicative of overall trends in intake. Instructions for the USDA MyPlate SuperTracker website: (see tutorial linked in content pages) 1. Create a user profile (upper right hand corner) 2. Log in and proceed to food tracker (middle box towards the bottom) 3. Enter each of your foods, including serving sizes and quantity, for the day until you have completed. Make sure to change the date for each new day . 4. The dark blue navigation bar contains the My Reports menu link. 5. Click on ‘Meal Summary’, ‘Nutrient Report’ and ‘Food Groups and Calorie Report’ from the drop down My Reports menu. You will need to set the dates to cover all 3 days you entered for each report. Save these reports to submit along with your assignment in the dropbox. Use this information to complete the tables. What you need to upload for full points: 4 files total (1 “meal summary”, 1 “nutrient report”, 1 “food groups and calorie report” and your assignment). Upload files in the Unit 2 Diet Analysis Part 1 dropbox area. Your files will go through the TurnItIn plagiarism software. If you upload diet/files that are found to be copies of another student’s diet you will not earn any points and you will be written up for plagiarism.

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
