Spencer Syfrig Portrait in Words Mr. Hark We all mounted our bikes nervous of what was to come. We had only been in Cape Cod for two days and none of the senior class had done any type of physical activity over the summer. As nervous as everyone seemed, one person seemed confident and excited, the new dean of students, Mr. Hark. I met him the day before, with an awkward introduction and handshake. He reminded me of a high school wrestler with his short stature, very muscular body and buzzed haircut. I had yet to see him laugh or express any emotion which scared me. After mounting my bike for the twenty mile bike ride to the beach I already knew that this was going to be a long day. After what seemed like forever, but was probably a couple miles from the beach, I began to struggle with my journey. My legs were sore and my butt was cursing me for putting it through this hell. I slowed my pace to a speed where it was almost hard to keep balanced. A couple of my classmates passed me, determined to get to the beach and rest.
