Know how to solve a pair of linear equations in two variables using either substitution or elimination by addition ( chapter 7, section 1 ). 3. Know how solve a linear inequality. Be able to express the solution as an inequality, using interval notation, or as a graph on the number line. 4. Know how to solve a quadratic equation by factoring, using the square root property, completing the square, or by using the quadratic formula.
