Jordan Stanton Green algae is the most diverse form of algae because it has thousands of forms growing in various habitats or ecosystems. Since the algae possesses two forms of chlorophyll and is able to produce its own food using sunlight it is considered mostly aquatic. Green algae is a terror to any water form; it is created because of pollution and misuse of surrounding water ways. Ignoring a problem this significant can prove to be very costly for a community so dependant on a water source, such as Jacksonville. A green algae bloom can be mostly attributed to two things, dumping sewage and rainstorms carrying runoff from fertilizer or other lawn care products into the river. The creation of flush toilets added to the problem because when flushed the waste runs directly into the river. The river could handle the small amount of waste pouring into it, but when the industrial
