Strategies of reviewing and critiquing literature in Advanced Practice Nurse
According to [Wal05], research is an organized questioning on to answer queries that are
unanswered or to provide knowledge where a vacuum exists. The main objective of a research
endeavor is to create, improve and increase knowledge. Nurses are always in the pursuit of a
systematic research to create new and trustworthy matters of concern in their field. Reviewing
and critiquing literature in APN can be done in two ways, though Evidence Based Practice (EPB)
and Research by Hospital Based Nurses’ Approach. In EPB, nurses read investigative reports to
develop new expertise and to seek pertinent knowledge that may affect their practices of APN.
This approach is referred to as Consumer of Nursing Research. In conjunction to this, nurses also
engage in producer of nursing approach where former trainers of nurses engage in research to
come up with better methods on how to handle patients. Put otherwise, nurses can use the two
