The Age of Uncertainty After the assassination of Kennedy, Intel community had a lot of failures. TET offensive and Vietnam war Nixon didn’t like the CIA- thought they were liberals who tried to undermine his election DCI and 800 Pound Gorilla Mid 1990s were period of change for American intel orgs. There are a number of Organizational Dilemmas facing the Intel Community o CIA Structural Divisions- 5 major divisions 1. Directorate of Intelligence 2. Directorate of Operations 3. Directorate of Administration 4. Directorate of Science and Technology 5. Office of the Director of Central Intelligence o Cultural Divides o CIA’s internal cultures reflect divergent training and outlook of directorates’ intel officers. o Includes: analysts, case officers, propagandists, paramilitary officers, economists, military systems analysts, etc Analysts: CIA scholars, usually Ph.Ds and area specialists. DI Their job is to sift through information procured abroad and blend it with info from the
