Cody Peinovich WRTG-012 Final Project The Lowdown on Reality TV What is it with this reality television phenomenon? With the breakthrough of the cult-classic, Survivor in the mid 90s, the flood gates were opened and all bets were off. The epidemic spread so quickly it seemed as though it happened overnight: reality television was everywhere. The amazing thing about it is that now we’re not just watching 7 strangers under roof. To think, you could find the love of your life on a TV show. Yeah, right. But wait, there is light at the end of the tunnel. The new wave of matchmaking television is quite possibly some of the best TV out there right now. If you go in with the right mindset, it’s hard not to find humor in this junk. The key is not to care. You don’t watch because you really hope someone finds his or her soul mate. It’s their rollercoaster and we’re just along for the ride. The greatness lies in the absurdity of the people who actually participate in these shows. The producers obviously cast people they think make great television, and I must say they’ve been doing a great job as of late. There’s this stigma associated with reality television. It’s almost as if you’re less of a man if you enjoy throwing on some VH1 and seeing what reality show is on tap. Well gentlemen, I’m going to try and put an end to this nonsense. There is some truly hilarious television only a click away, and it’s time to get over your testosterone and open your mind a little. I present, my Top 5 Reality Television Shows Acceptable for Men
