Maureen Costura Anthropology 150 29 October 2007 The Adventures of Otzi and his Cornell Card What an amazing and crazy day I had today. Last night I went to sleep inside of my hut, but this morning I woke up a strange room with the words “Cornell” on the door. A girl who was sitting in a chair next to my bed turned to me, said “good morning”, and handed me a strange piece of plastic that somehow had my picture on it. “Here Otzi, this is your Cornell Card. You can use it today to go get food at the dining hall, take the bus, and go see a football game,” she said. I was in disbelief that I could use this flimsy card to get food. Just yesterday, I had to go outside and use my atl-atl to hunt for game to feed my family and friends dinner. To make sure that the situation wasn’t too good to be true, I decided to test it out. The girl took me to a shelter outside and instructed me to wait under it for something called a “bus” to come. After what seemed like forever, a large box came rushing towards me
