SLI, or Scaleable Link Technology was originally developed by Nvidia. SLI Boards allow computers to utilize two or more graphics cards at one time through parallel processing. How SLI Works SLI boards split an entire set of data among all seated graphics cards. The graphics cards process and yield there portion of the data set and then send it to the media and communications processor. The media and communications processor then reassembles the data set, producing an entire frame, and sends the information through the rest of the motherboard. This allows for less work to be placed on a single card, and ultimately faster graphics rendering.
