Since these waves oscillate horizontally, interesting observations about polarization can be made by rotating a slotted plate. Some observations were recorded as follows: a) Horizontal Orientation: The slots on the plate were oriented horizontally. When this was done, the intensity was increased* to 65% . The plate polarized the waves by reducing interference from any interfering waves thus allowing the horizontal waves to propagate more efficiently. b) 45 o Orientation: The slots, oriented at 45 o allowed both horizontal and non-horizontal waves to pass through. However, it blocked some horizontal waves as well. This effect caused a reduction * of intensity to 12% . c)
