The Case Against Gay Marriage Although many poignant arguments were presented for gay marriage, they do not address the central question of the topic. The central concern is the impact of allowing gay marriage on the institution of marriage itself. Lindsey and I will be presenting a case for why extending marriage rights to same sex couples could undermine the practical and moral value of marriage. <Keep in mind we are not opposing the homosexual lifestyle or homosexual individuals, but rather the implications of changing the definition of marriage in a legal context> One of the likeliest effects of same sex marriage is to take us down a slippery slope to legalized polygamy and all different sorts of household arrangements. If the definition of gay marriage is no longer between a man and a woman, where does it stop? - Can link 2, 3, or more individuals together in every conceivable combination. Perhaps even animals.
