Energy: Some basic principles -energy transfer accompanies both chemical and physical changes -most common form of energy seen in chemical processes is heat -thermodynamics: changes of heat content and the transfer of heat between objects are major themes of this -it’s the science of heat and work -the principles of thermodynamics apply to energy use in the home, ways of conserving energy, recycling materials, and to problems of current and future energy availability and use in our economy -energy: the capacity to do work -classified as kinetic or potential -kinetic: energy associated with motion (Thermal energy, mechanical energy, electrical energy, sound)
