The Laramie Project 12/03/08 Tectonic – shifting plates beneath the Earth’s surface (hidden) o Erupts and exposes a fault line in American society (prejudice) o Event that raises questions about Matthew Shepherd’s death Company asks the people of Laramie to reflect upon the event o People have never been asked to explain themselves o Laramie is synonymous with the beating (like shooting to VT) o Examination of singular event exposes larger problems o Out of something horrific arises an opportunity to acknowledge the hope for  change or difference (something good or better) Every single word of the play is directly from interviews of the people o Come to notice a pattern of language and thought (live and let live) o Irony “live and let live” – the precise opposite (crime against gays) Play=6 actors who play nearly 60 roles, where movie has separate people   Things to Know from  The Colored Museum Lala  (Most Abstract – Identity torn apart publically) o Visual – herself in the Closet (denial of Black Identity) o
