Suppose your circuit laboratory has the following standard commercially available resistors in large quantities: 1.8Ω, 20Ω, 300Ω, 24KΩ, 56KΩ. Using series and parallel combinations and a minimum number of available resistors, how would you obtain the following resistances for an electronic circuit design? a) 8.5Ω b) 161Ω c) 12.17KΩ d) 96KΩ What would be the max voltage and power rating of the voltage source you would use to power up your design? 2. Solution
3. Answers to Questions The max voltage used to power the design would be 500 volts. The power rating would be 225 watts. 4. Conclusions Using combinations of series and parallel with a minimum number of resistors, we were able to come up with an equivalent resistance of 1.8Ω, 20Ω, 300Ω, 24KΩ, 56KΩ. The solution circuits we came up with are listed under section 2. We were able to find our max voltage and power rating by referring to the data sheet provided.
