Introduction This experiment uses the OOI spectrometer to view various light sources in order to record an emission spectrum for each light source. Then a visible region efficiency will be calculated for each light source. Light sources lose efficiency in the conversion of energy to light if they lose energy as heat, or they emit photons outside the visible range. The conversion of energy to light is never 100%, some energy is lost as heat. This experiment will inspect a selection of common light sources. The experiment includes making a spectrum reading with an OOI spectrometer. In order to do so, one must point an optical cable at the light source, and then adjust the integration time control to see the spectrum on the screen. Spectrums and wattage values
