Satire Seen Through Southpark Satire is a form of comedy used by many such as comedians, television shows, and movies. This type of comedy focuses on the issues of the real world and twists them in an ironic and ridiculous way. Many times satires intention is to lighten the mood of a bad situation involving politics and other scenarios where comedy is typically not found. One show that really illustrates this is Southpark. Southpark really pushes the norm when it comes to satire. They focus on the issues of the world and present them in a way that many would not see it. Although some could say that this show is by far too ridiculous with its over the top scenes, many could argue that this show in fact does have a purpose. Through crudeness, over the top exaggerations, and all out mockery, Southpark has an overall message to its audience that sometimes it is good to laugh at some things and that we occasionally take things too seriously. It was once said that Southpark does not necessarily have a target audience, but wishes to be watched by those who are educated. Many look at this show and see the 4 main characters, who are still in elementary school, and automatically view this show as immature with no adult humor what so ever although that can be very incorrect. Many issues that Southpark addresses have to do with todays politics and many issues in news around the world. For example one of the episodes they featured mocks the basis of start up companies.
