Berryhill 1 Davis Berryhill Dr. Aretha Matt English 102 6 May 2015 Reflective Essay Rhetoric is a type of writing that is used in persuasion writing. It is defined as the art of effective or persuasive speaking or writing, especially the use of figures of speech and other compositional techniques . Many use this form to grab the attention of the reader and to get them to agree with the topic they are proposing. Writers propose these theories to the audience in hope of getting them to agree with that topic. Facts are used I order to give their point creditability and to allow the reader to become more convinced. Emotion is another way writers try to draw people in because it connects people with something they have been through. In my rhetorical analysis essay I noticed that I backed up a lot of my points by providing the reader with quotes. I talked about an article written by David Brooks and touched on the topic of diversity. Quotes allowed my work to get more creditability and capture the audience because it gave the opinion of another person to provide multiple prospective.
