2I interviewed Ms. Mary Smith (pseudonym). She is an Academic Advisor at theUniversity of Houston for Human Development and Family Studies. I chose to interview Ms.Smith because she works with students who are studying Human Development and FamilyStudies, which is the major I am studying. She has experience in this field and I knew there weremany things I could learn from her. Before interviewing her, I had met with her multiple times todiscuss my major and classes. She is very helpful and good at her job, so I knew she would be akind and informative interviewee.Ms. Smith graduated from Rice University. At the end of her college career she thoughtshe wanted to be a teacher and taught for several years. Ms. Smith discovered she wanted to helpstudents but not as an instructor so she went back to college to earn a Master of Education incounseling from the University of Houston. She found her way to higher education academicadvising and that is her current occupation. Ms. Smith believes her career path is still a work inprogress. Throughout high school and college she worked and volunteered in different areas ofeducation such as tutoring, she has over 10 years of experience in education.
