Surname 1 Name: Instructor: Task: Date: Fences August Wilson is an American playwright who developed one of the most celebrated plays of all times known asFences. This play was the sixth among his numerous productions. The play evolves about the African-American experience as well as examines themes such as relations to race among a myriad of other themes. The main theme in this project is about the relationships between fathers and their sons. For instance, the play by August Wilson ofFences displays an uncomfortable relationship that exists between fathers and sons. The theme of this project is to establish the high possibilities that exist in the premise that sons in most cases end up repeating the lives lived by their fathers. This is because it is a common principle that a son always takes certain traits after their parents. For instance, if one’ father was an exceptional baseball player, there is high possibility that he would also love to play the game. The probabilities of his taking the game are very positive unless in a case whereby circumstances as well as situations work against his specific performance (Menson-Furr 17). The main character in this play is known as Mr. Troy; an African American man-aged fifty-three years and heads a family. He was a former baseball player who retired with great honors. However, in his old age, he is struggling to make ends meet, i.e. he is having trouble to provide for his family adequately. In addition, he is struggling to cheat death, which means he lives on the edge and a misfortune can easily befall him should he fail to exercise maximum care
