Annie O’Brien BIO 110 Lab 9/18/2007 Experiment 3 Postlab Materials In order to test respiration and photosynthesis during a 24-hour period, the following  materials are needed: a timer, a plant, a CO2 probe, an O2 probe, LoggerPro worksheet  set up to take readings for both CO2 and O2 over 24 hours.  Experiment -Set up plant in closed container, under natural light -Place O2 and CO2 probes in container  -Set timer for 24 hours -Begin readings with LoggerPro -Monitor for 24 hours -After 24 hours, compare data of CO2 and O2 readings

Unformatted text preview: Predicted Data Respiration and Photosynthesis Rates 2 4 6 8 10 12 Time Series1 Series2 Series 1: Data from CO2 probe Series 2: Data from O2 probe Analysis During daylight hours, photosynthesis rates are higher because the plant is being exposed to more sunlight and therefore, CO2 production is also measured as higher than respiration. Respiration would happen during the darker hours of the day, when photosynthesis was not happening, therefore showing an increase in measured O2....
