Lauren Creech Section 64 Final Draft Sailing Through Have you ever read something that you took strong offense to? In my reading of Robert Samuelson’s essay titled, “Reforming Schools through a Federal Test for College Aid,” there were quite a few statements he made that I took offense to. The comments he made were so offending to me because most of them were about how easy it was to get into college. I disagree with that statement because in my opinion it is very difficult to get into college. In my experience as a college freshman, getting into college was anything but easy. In Samuelson’s essay he stated, “our students don’t work very hard.” I took offense to this comment because I strongly believe students do work very hard in school. As I was one of the many students who did work hard and still work hard. Throughout my thirteen years of school, especially in my later years of schooling, I was constantly studying for exams, researching for papers, or reading novels. Nothing was ever handed to me and I had to work very hard for every grade I received. While I was in high school I was very active in extra-curricular activities. In order to be able to participate in these activities I had to maintain a B-grade average. As a college freshman I still work just as
