Chapter 13 Expressing feelings and emotions with the subjunctive form Indicative + que + Subjunctive Esperamos que tu puedas asistir. We hope that you’ll be able to come. Es una lástima que no den aumentos este año. It’s a shame that they’re not giving raises this year. Emotions and feelings are often expressed with these verbs alegrarse de (to be happy about) esperar (to hope) sentir (to regret, to feel sorry) tener miedo (to be afraid) Emotions and feelings are also often expressed with these phrases es extraño que… (it’s strange that…) es increíble que… (it’s incredible that…) es mejor/bueno/malo que… (it’s better/good/bad that…) es ridículo que… (it’s ridiculous that…) es terrible que… (it’s terrible that…) es una lástima que… (it’s a shame that…) es urgente que… (it’s urgent that…) qué extraño que… (how strange that…) qué lástima que… (what a shame that…)
