1 Adolescent development Definition Puberty is the process of physical changes where child’s body develops to a mature being who is able to sexually reproduce. It is started by hormonal development signs from the brain heading to the gonads, these are the ovaries in the female child and the testes in the boy. In reaction to this process, the gonads come up with hormones that initiates libido and growth as well as transformation of the body parts. The physical development in terms of height and weight increases in the first stage of puberty and it ends when the adult has reached its mature stage
