Brandon Howard Cyber Self Defense 4/30/07 Lab #6 Write Up 1. Explain your results (including the Pop-up message and the log file) after running the first nslookup with the firewall running. The pop-up from ZoneAlarm notified that it was denying the computer access to the Internet. The logs show the nslookup request and the time that it was requested at. 2. List and explain the reason for any and all of the steps you used to prevent the nslookup command from accessing the network. We went into the Program Control Tab, the Program Tab, right clicked on the nslookup bar and removed it from allowed programs. We did this to stop it from automatically trying to query for the nslookup. 3. When attempting to mount the share from optimus again after changing the firewall settings, what did you find in ZoneAlarm’s logs? Explain the changes you made to allow access to the share. It showed every time that it had blocked it before we figured it out. We changed the Generic Host Processes for Win32 Services to allowed under the Internet
