A hot topic in today’s society is genetically modified or altered children. The technology and information for genetic “tinkering” has finally become available, and there is a lot of controversy surrounding it. The movie GATTACA shows what could possibly happen if this technology becomes a norm, and parents become “baby makers” in a way that they never have before. If, when I decide that the time is right for me to have a child, the opportunity to select for special traits presents itself, I will not take it. It is my belief that God is in control of our lives, and knows what is best for us. I think that when humans decide that God’s handiwork is not good enough for us, we have undermined God’s authority. It is not my place to tell God that what God has created is not good enough, especially just because I want my child to be tall, or smart. I do not think that this should be an option for any parent, and for more than just religious smart....
