With these two means, man can attain perfection. –Plato What an amazing quote to start an amazing book for readers of all ages. This book, Spark, the Revolutionary New Science of Exercise and the Brain , is full of wisdom and convincing statistics. Doctor John J. Ratey, with help from Eric Hagerman, wrote this book using the newest studies and the newest information. Spark is a very recently published book and it first entered the market in January 2008. Many people don’t think that exercise is anything more than a way to become physically fit; Spark explains to its readers how exercise can affect the brain. Dr. Ratey writes about how physical activity and exercise changes you in eight different areas: Learning, Stress, Anxiety, Depression, Attention Deficit, Addiction, Hormonal Changes, and Aging. In first chapter, Dr. Ratey really gets the reader’s attention by citing the Naperville (Illinois) school system. This system is the foremost example of what exercise
