BIO 214 2/08/07 Results: Using a 4-20% polyacrylamide gel, the different samples were separated using electrophoresis. Lanes 1 and 10 were blanks that only contained a buffer solution. Lane 2 was an E. coli sample that contained various proteins whose weights could be estimated from the protein standard in lane 4. Lane 3 was an E. coli sample that contained the protein for green fluorescence; it is possible that contamination occurred between lanes 2 and 3. Lane 5 contained a Drosophila melanogaster sample that yielded proteins that made up muscle fibers, in addition to several other unidentified proteins. Lane 6 was a Phaseolus vulgaris sample that showed an identifiable protein Phaseolin, in addition to several other unidentified proteins.
