Charles Hargrave Play Review #1 DRA 111 11:00 – 12:05 Holly Holsinger Beautiful Destruction By Lauren Kirk Attending the 4 th Annual Student Play Festival, was a much different experience than I first thought it would be. Five plays altogether, completely produced by CSU students. I was lucky enough to see the extra showing on Friday, May 4 th . Four of the five plays, had two or less actors performing in it, with a stage that was made up of a variation of very simple wooden structures. The play I chose to review is named ‘Beautiful Destruction’ written by Lauren Kirk, directed by Carly Garinger, and starring only Amber Pompeii. She is a young lady, presumable in her mid-20’s, who is seen coming home with a pack of cigarettes and a six-pack. She then sits on the lone couch center stage, and has a very one sided conversation about her best friend, to her best friend, apparently now passed on. As she goes on about past memories, good and bad, her emotions seem to inevitable flood the theatre. At points, I felt so empathetic and moved that
