Evaluate the wisdom of George Washington's isolationist views as a guide to contemporary U.S. policy. Contemporary U.S. policy does not put much regard into George Washington’s isolationist views. George Washington holds the union of the United States to the highest degree in regards to the preservation of republican liberty. The unification of the different areas of the U.S. stems the major benefits that all areas of the country reap from. No one area of the country can not be as prosperous, powerful, secure and free without the union. Thus every person and region of the U.S. should hold the Interests of the union as a whole to the highest level. Washington says; “You have in a common cause fought & triumphed together--The independence & liberty you possess are the work of joint councils, and joint efforts--of common dangers, sufferings and successes.” Washington warns greatly on factions and men that are using the engine of the government to propel them into power without the interest of the union.
