Patrick Moran April 4, 2007 Interest Groups Assignment Our group was given exercise 1 which dealt with a 14 year old named Ty. His family moved from Colorado to New England and enrolled him in the local high school. He has been there for 6 months and is seen as an outsider to the other students. After being on the receiving end of multiple physical threats and a few “accidents”, Ty’s parents take a stand and meet with the school administrators, who proceed to tell them they should consider another school district. There are also other families who are in the same situation, so when discussing which group we were going to pick I instantly jumped at the opportunity to choose the group of parents whose kids are dealing with this problem. There are multiple angles to attack the school administrators in this argument. First, this is the United States. Everyone is entitled to freedom and attending the school and in no way should be forced out because they are different. Ty is considered an
