Ashley Hamilton Summary Paper Mr. Moore, I have put together a few simple rules for you to follow when you are writing a paper. When ever you have to write, just pull out this sheet and follow the guidelines. You’ll be writing professional reports in no time! Things to consider while writing a document - Topic Sentence The topic sentence is one of the most important parts of writing. The topic sentence tells the reader what he or she will be reading about. It also sets the tone of the document. Generalizations before details Show the reader the big picture and give them the details later. In general, people like to know what they are reading about, before they read it. Most important to least important Readers who scan documents will be able to find information better. If a reader wants to find a specific statement, it will also be easier to find. If the document is being used to convince a reader, putting important information first will increase your persuasiveness. Writer’s reference guide
