COURSE OUTLINE AND READING LIST COURSE OBJECTIVE: This course is an introduction to the study of markets. It develops the basic economic model of demand and supply to illustrate how households and firms in a market economy make choices regarding the production and distribution of goods and services. The course also goes in to social evaluation of market outcomes. Policy topics may include poverty, the environment, anti-trust, corporate governance, international trade, unions, and minimum wage laws. Students are encouraged to think deeply, analyze systematically and form their own views concerning contemporary economic issues. TEXT:
