NH 3 Structural data (unoptimized; optimized) H – H bond distance:  1.653 A N-H bond length:  1.012 A; 1.003 A H-N-H bond angle: 109.47 o ; 107.21  o N-H-H bond angle: 35.26  o Partial charges:  N = -1.087 H = 0.36 Molecule’s polarity: 1.92 debye The NH3 molecule computer model conformed to predictions. Its tetrahedral structure produced  a bond angle of 109.47  o , extremely close to the standard tetrahedral bond angle of 109.5  o  SF 4 SF bond length:  Equatorial: 1.551 A Axial: 1.637 A F-S-F axial-equatorial bond angle: 86.36  o F-S-F equatorial-equatorial bond angle: 104.71  o This slightly skewed “seesaw” molecule also adhered closely to the VSEPR predictions, with  bond angles of <90  o  and <120  o . These decreased bond  angles are the result of the extra  repulsion of the lone pair on the central S atom.
