Lehigh University Department of Modern Languages and Literature Maginnes Hall, 9 West Packer Avenue Bethlehem, Pennsylvania 18015 CHIN 002 Beginning Chinese Reading & Writing II Spring 2008 Instructor: Ning JIA ( nij205 @lehigh.edu ) Class: TR 1:10-2:00pm Linderman Library 402 Office Hour: TBA MG 511 Course Objective: This is the continuation of Beginning Chinese Reading & Writing I. Quizzes will test the ability to translate back and forth into pinyin, characters, and English. By the end of this semester students should be able to read and write the dialogues that are covered in Beginning Chinese Reading & Writing (All chapters in Integrated Chinese Text, Level 1 Part 1). Evaluation: Course grade is based on attendance (25%), classroom performance (25%), homework (25%), and quiz grades (25%). Regular attendance and classroom performance are essential for satisfactory progress. Students must finish and prepare well for the homework in the textbook / workbook before next class. One or more unexcused absences and unfinished homework will have a detrimental impact your grade. There will be regular quizzes after each chapter.
