Lehigh University Department of Modern Languages and Literature Maginnes Hall, 9 West Packer Avenue Bethlehem, Pennsylvania 18015 CHIN 004-10 Beginning Spoken Chinese II  Spring 2008 Instructor:   Prof. Pankenier ( dwp0@lehigh.edu ) Class:       MW 10:10-11:00 MG 110 Office Hour:  TR 11:10-12:00, or by app’t Office: MG 501 Course Objective:  Continuation of “Beginning Spoken Chinese I”. The purpose of  this course is to introduce students to modern standard Mandarin Chinese, focusing  on listening, pronunciation and simple conversation using  communication-oriented  exercises.  As this course is geared toward students with no functional ability in  Chinese, those with previous exposure to  Mandarin  Chinese will be evaluated to  ensure placement in the appropriate class. Evaluation:   Course grade is based on attendance (25%), classroom performance  (25%),  homework  (25%), and  quiz  grades  (25%).  Regular   attendance  and  good
