[name] was my high school physics teacher. He is one of the main individuals who inspired me to become a teacher. I found him very interesting and an overall good teacher while I attended his class, which is the reason why I decided to base this interview on him. One reason I was so inspired by DOC was because he was always able to motivate students and turn a topic that most students would not want to learn, into something fun and interesting. I was curious about how he was always able to motivate students that did not wish to learn. He explained that “I use humor to keep student attention - I try to keep the class informal and an environment where they can be curious and ask questions. I allow the class to get off topic if a subject arises that will enrich the classroom experience or even build rapport.” He is able to take a subject that seems completely off topic and turn it into a lesson. For instance in a physics lab we were all asked to make a paper airplane. We then took the airplanes outside and threw them. This was one of the fun ways we learned how to calculate velocity. I was also curious as to how he was always successful in getting students engaged in the subject. He explained that “Again I try to make it seem interesting by talking about future technology and crazy historical figures and by acting out characters and even crawling around on the floor if necessary. I find that for me being a hard ass is not the way to influence a class” Literacy is important in any classroom. It is very hard to teach a student if they are unable to learn. I asked DOC if he had ever encountered a situation where a student either did not know
