Andrew MacKenzie January 25, 2008 ANT 003 Mythbusters Assignment After getting the results of the Mythbusters “quiz” back, I was surprised and intrigued by a few of the answers. First of all, the fact that arctic native Americans had tools made out of iron. I always envisioned them using tools made of stone, bone etc. I never imagined them using steel. I found it even more intriguing that steel cannot be found just lying in the dirt, and that it came from meteors. At least, that is what I remember from lecture. The general perception of native Arctic peoples just does not usually include steel, so it was a bit surprising to me. Something else that surprised me was that Africa was so high on the list of where people would want to go to research. When I think about it I can understand the draw, but at first glace it didn’t seem like one of the hotspots of archaeology. When I think archaeology, I think ruins, which generally paints a picture of South America, Egypt, or high profile places like that. The inclusion of
