Sinclair 1 Dwight Eisenhower Dwight Eisenhower was born in Denison, Texas on December 14 th , 1890. He went to a military academy at west point. During the First World War Eisenhower was appointed temporary lieutenant colonel and was in charge of a brigade of tanks in Pennsylvania. Though his brigade never went over they were still well respected. After Eisenhower made good friends with George Patton he was promoted to chief of staff to brigadier general Fox Connor. Then in 1932 he was appointed to the staff of General Douglas MacArthur. Then in March of 1941 he was appointed to general and became chief of staff to General Walter Krueger. Then just one year later Dwight was sent over to Europe to be the European theatre of operations. Then in July of 1942 it was his big break he was appointed allied commander of the second front to help the Soviet Union (spartacus educational) After the war Eisenhower became President of Columbia University then left to assume supreme command over the new NATO forces. Then in 1953 he was elected president the
