Jeremy Sinclair 10/23/07 Time: 6:00-9:00pm Sinclair 1 Critique #2 In the article Depression’s Bottom Line , written by Sandra Wolfer and published in psychology today September/October 2003, the author believed that the U.S is losing forty four billion dollars each year because of depressed employees. From her second hand research she found out that if a worker is depressed they lose about 5.5 hrs of work each day. Walter Stewart was the lead researcher in this experiment and he said that “People with depression aren’t talking about what they are suffering from” “They come to work and get through the day”. In another article called Work not always a cure for depression , written by David Schepp, it claims that fifteen percent of women involved in food preparation reported being depressed in the last year. To me this shows that maybe working has something to do with being depressed not just being depressed at work. The hypothesis of this research is that people who are depressed are not as strong at doing
