Sinclair 1 Harry Truman Harry S. Truman was born in Lamar, Missouri on May 8 th , 1884. He went to school in independence Missouri and then started working his family’s farm until 1917 and he then enlisted in the military. He served on the Western Front in France and gained captain status in the Army. After the war was over Truman went back to Missouri and had an unsuccessful business before he was elected county judge in 1922. Then in 1924 he became the presiding judge for eight years then he became elected into the senate shortly after in 1934 (spartacus). While in the senate he was part of the senate war investigating committee and saved our country fifteen billion dollars during world war two (the White House). Then after being in the senate awhile President Roosevelt asked Mr. Truman to replace the current vice president, Henry Wallace, to keep his plans going because President Roosevelt knew he was ill and not going to make it.
