February 18, 2007 MKT 6503 – HW #3 Peace Memorial Hospital 1. In the served market, some segments found are women which account for 70% of the DHC’s patients, individuals who work within the area, insurance patients, and construction workers since they account for 25% of DHC’s business. Two segments whose needs are not currently well met by our current marketing mix are men because they only account for 30% of our patients and employers because without extended hours, we are not available to them when they would be able to come. 2. The potential competitive threat that Ms. Worth has heard about involves the competitive clinic possibly attracting the office workers within the five block radius between DHC and the clinic. The number of workers found in this area is predicted to be 11,652 in 2001 and 13,590 in 2002 and expected to grow by 7% annually until 2005. Ambulatory care facilities could also be a threat due to their extended hours compared to ours, no appointments needed, easier parking, shorter wait time and lower fees.
