Winters 1 Nicole Winters Dr. Johnson BIOL 126.01 January 29, 2016 The Study of Hallucinogenic Mushrooms The article I have chosen discusses the use of fungi in Bulgaria since ancient times up until today, as well as different medicinal uses with fungi (Journal of Mycology, 2015). The methods that were used consisted of different scientific field trips and student summer trips. These expeditions were conducted by the authors in the years 1986 until 2015. Through the field work, the scientists found rock art in the Spanish cave Selva Pascuala, dated six thousand years ago. Using this data, they found that in Bulgarian lands there were secret rituals and celebrations held and in them hallucinogenic drugs were taken from the fungus used. This was seen as a great and important practice. Going on into today it is briefly stated how people will go camping and find mushrooms.
