Global Managerial Economics Phase 3 DB Sharon R. Patton 4/24/2016 In the article America: Riveting Prospects by Ed Crooks, he discusses 5 reasons why American companies may be opposed to exporting. The first reason, he states “American businesses are simply unused to selling internationally”. I am surprised that only 1% of US companies export, my thinking is it may not be so much as unused to exporting, but, maybe companies feel their profits would decrease and they would lose more money than they would make. Secondly, Crooks states that “the US has been less active than other countries in signing agreements to facilitate international trade”; “American exports are particularly severely affected by tariff barriers”. Trade agreements can be a slow process with product testing, trade negotiations and the going back and forth making sure every party is in agreement. While, most small companies (the 99%) that don’t export are not likely to want to pay such severe tariffs, and because of the tariff barriers choose not to export.

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
