Legal and Ethical Environment of Business Phase 2 DB Sharon Patton 5/29/2016 Ethically speaking if a company chooses to ignore the environmental issues it could be in jeopardy of surviving. Most people are more than willing patronize a business that is socially and environmentally conscious. Bottom line is that most people expect a business to do try to do what is right for the community, socially, and environmentally. According to the EPA “most business sectors are affected by a number of major environmental statutes and regulations. (EPA, 2016) The EPA also partners with some businesses to help them prevent environmental hazards. The legal ramifications can be costly to any company found out of compliance. For example in the State of Michigan If a person or business is found putting contaminants into the water, it is considered a Felony with could come prison time and a fine of up to 25,000 per day and per violation. (DEQ, 2013) Ethically speaking if a company chooses to ignore the environmental issues it could be in jeopardy of surviving.
