Culture baggage refers to mapping one’s culture that will pervade thinking, speech and behavior without being pervaded yourself. When a leader is able to navigate through understanding cultural differences it allows bridging the gap to occur. Interactions with people from different cultures are even more difficult. The challenge is to interpret correctly what a person from a different culture means by his or her words and actions. Considering yourself cultural baggage you will show your values, beliefs, and behavior that was learned as a child “Mapping is such a powerful tool that it is worth using. Maps are objective descriptions of characteristics that are relevant to an interaction. They help people respect each other’s’ values and perspectives, and give people suggestions about how to use each other's ideas better. Maps are revised whenever new data are available, and are constantly tested as hypotheses rather than taken for granted as truths.
