Chapter 24 1. What national needs led Japan to engage in hostilities in Asia, and ultimately against America? Have no natural resources so they have to go and get it from Asia. Modernization. Ceasing of the economy. Then, Japanese military triumphed over the civilian government. 2. What lessons learned from WWI led Germany to utilize the Blitzkrieg, or lightning war, strategy? To avoid war. For speed and maneuverability. German doctrine emphasized the use of tanks, planes, and motorized infantry (infantry that used trucks for transportation instead of marching) to concentrate forces, smash front lines, and wreak havoc behind the enemy’s defenses. 3. In what ways did the war reshape the American economy? (your answer should include both consumption and production). The war converted American factories to wartime production, reawakened Americans’ economic might, armed the American armed forces, effectively pulled America out of the Great Depression, and ushered in an era of unparalleled economic prosperity.

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
