MATH 2100–ALGEBRA II Fall 2013 and Winter 2014 Instructor: Paul Mezo 4217 HP Tel: 520-2600 ext. 2156 e-mail: [email protected] Prerequisites: MATH 1102 with a grade of C+ or higher, or MATH 2107 with a grade of B+ or higher, or permission of the School. Although MATH 1800 is not required this academic year, it is strongly recommended . Lectures: Tuesdays and Thursdays 14:35-15:55, UC 279. Tutorials: Thursdays 16:05-17:25, ME 3328. The first tutorial is scheduled for September 19. Webpage: Office hours: To be announced. Texts: Linear algebra done right second edition, by S. Axler, and Contemporary abstract algebra eighth edition, by J. Gallian. Assignments: In each term there will be 10 weekly assignments due at the beginning of tutorials . Only the best 8 assignments from each term will count towards the final grades. Assignments will be posted on the course website on Thursdays. There will be no assignments due on the weeks of the two tests (see below). The first assignment will be posted by September 13.
